Fusion Wedding Looks

The White Saree

Wedding season in the United States is in full swing, and you see your share of the white explosions called wedding gowns. So we asked ourselves, "Hmmm, what if a bride wants to wear a saree, but still keep within the traditional white on white gown look?"

Good question, huh?

Well we got to searching the web for sarees as a wedding dress. It was going to interesting because a white saree is/was traditionally reserved for widows, and not to mention, white is the traditional colour of mourning in Asia. Of course, good ol' Bollywood actresses and fashion designers have been blazing a trail with white sarees, and the results are beautiful!

love the position of the necklace

love it but the choli looks ill-fitted

Not to mention, a saree looks stunning next to a suit/tux! If you don't believe us, check out images of Abi and Ash.

Have a great weekend! And see you Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays!

There Was Two Now It's Three!

Tri-Tone Saree

A while ago dual tone sarees were showcased, and the next logical step is to showcase tri-tone or three tone sarees!  If two colours isn't enough then there is a festival of three to indulge your senses.

To be honest we have a soft spot for dual and tri-tone sarees because they are reminiscent of watercolours: a blend of one colour to the next.

Change Is Gonna Come

New Schedule

Everyone is busy, including me, and to juggle blogging, working two jobs, and family, I can't keep up. To be honest, a lot is going on, plus I'm working on an exciting project I hope to launch in January! So, I have to go to three days a week schedule for A Saree A Day (ASAD)

If anything, ASAD is to encourage all women to put on a saree, at least once, and experience how it accentuates, reveals and hides your body, in other words, makes you feel great!

Plus, I need to live up to my mantra and wear my sarees more often! Starting next week  every Monday, Wednesday and Friday we'll be back with posts showcasing the best garment in the world, the saree!

Sheer Sarees

Now You See It (All)

Bollywood actresses and sheer sarees pretty much go hand in hand. You see the actresses draped in the barely there saree, and one must note they have beautiful bodies-so why not flaunt it in a sheer saree!

The barely there saree is not for the faint of heart, and you have to have a killer body to carry it off. It's not recommended for one with a lot of extra curves (emphasis on the words "a lot"). Don't get us wrong, the sheer saree is beautiful, but it doesn't leave too much to the imagination no matter how it's draped on you. And that's the appeal of the saree, you can reveal and conceal as much as you can, but with a sheer, it's impossible.

So, if you have a killer body, you really want to flaunt it, you have a well-made choli and petticoat, then a sheer saree is for you. Now, if you don't have a killer body, and you really, really want to be in a sheer saree, then opt for one with heavy embroidery, because the threadwork will draw the eyes away from problem areas.

New To Me

Anand Kabra

It's another case of: I've seen the work, but didn't know the designer. This time it's Anand Kabra.  I've seen the eyecatching designs for a while and didn't have a name to the designer until a pic of Vidya Balan at an awards show. Vidya wasn't in a Sabyasachi but an Anand Kabra outfit.  I wasn't too crazy about the choli/blouse, but loved the saree. Of course, Vidya is a Sabyasachi kind of girl, so to be in another's saree was different!

There's not too much information about the designer, but I can say "wow" to his quirky sense of style.
